RAINBOW EUCALYPTUS
Eucalyptus deglupta
The
peeling bark reveals a multi-colored trunk in the shades of red,
pink, blue, gray, and green. Most people grow it for the beautiful
rainbow colored trunk. The new leaves have pink-red coloration.
This is a very fast growing tree that will reach up to 220
with trunk diameter up to 80. This tree is native to the
Philippines and
other western Pacific islands. It needs low maintenance.

DRAGON TREE -
CANARY ISLANDS DRAGON TREE - DRAGO
Dracaena draco
It is extremely easy to grow this
tree. The Dracaena Draco is endangered in the wild-it is a very
rare, hard to find plant. It is in fact the undisputed king of the
Dracaena family with its wild growth and exotic crown of umbrella
shaped branching pattern.
The young plant has a single stem
which flowers and causes branching. Two side shoots develop at the
base of the flower and growth continues in this manner. When the
bark or leaves are cut the plants secrete a reddish resin, aptly
named "dragon blood."

TRAVELERS PALM
Ravenala madagascariensis
This is
a spectacular plant probably the most unusual tree ever to find.
The huge leaves of the adult plant are up to 10long, 10 to 20
wide and arrange like the slats of a giant fan. The young plant
has a subterranean trunk which, in the adult plant, emerges above
ground as a palm-like trunk, with the distinct rings of leaf
scars. The trunk can grow up to 1 in diameter.
The adult plant produces a multitude of creamy white
flowers that resemble those of the giant Bird of Paradise. A
mature Traveler Palm may bloom year round. The brown seed pods
contain bright blue seeds.
The Traveler Palm is not truly a palm. It belongs to the
Streliziaceae, and a relative of the Bird of Paradise and Banana
plants.

Hardiness Zone 10-11. It is possible to grow in zone
9 if planted in a sheltered location, close to the wall of the
house to protect from the occasional frost.
